Giraffes at SunriseIt's July 22nd, Eric and Dani's one year wedding anniversary, and were up at dawn to start our second game drive. We had seen so many animals the previous day but had not seen any lions, which Dani was anxiously awaiting. Our driver, Grace, had said that since it had rained the day before last the lions would be on the move and had not been sighted in their usual areas. Due to poaching, the population had dwindled to only about nine prides in the entire park (which is about 1,340 square miles) so our chances were slim that we'd spot any. Soon we saw herds of giraffes, elephants, bushbuck and water buffalo grazing over the savanna. We stopped along the Nile and was able to get some close-ups of the local flowers. The morning went on as we continued our search for the lions, every driver we passed stopped to exchange information and nobody had seen them. After 4 hours of searching we finally headed back to the hotel for lunch and relaxation before our next adventure, a cruise down the Nile! xoxo, emily
